synth/sample-based instrumentals

Artifact features instrumental tracks that are beat oriented, but this is more than just a beat-tape. Ambient sections are woven into the tracks, making appearances as refreshing extensions to the beats, in the form of intro/outros and interludes. Within the scope of a single song, Weston offers multiple interpretations of the synth programs and sample-sets that he employs, whereas the exact same sounds that comprise the restricted beats evolve to become the source of an etherial atmosphere that is free of tempo-structures, or any other boundaries for that matter. Two seemingly opposed worlds collide on this tape: that of the sample-based beat tradition, and that of the ambient/new age genres.
